“Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated.” Paul Rand

Meet Karly

Graphic Designer

Karly Barrett is a Graphic Designer living in beautiful Eugene, OR. She is currently designing for Creative Images Advertising in Roseburg. “The diversity of projects and client base keeps my work dynamic and exciting. I've definitely been wanting a position like this for years and couldn't be happier that my portfolio is growing and changing every day.”

Someday she hopes to move up to an Art Director position. “I’m working my way up to that, I love designing, but at some point I want to take it to that next level.” When asked why she chose a career in graphic design Karly said, “I love a challenge. Designing exercises my brain. It presents a problem, asks me to develop solutions and encourages me to stretch my thinking past the obvious to the clever.”

Furthermore

Karly enjoys swing dancing and can hypnotize you with her swivels. Truthfully, it is a bit of an obsession for her, but with good reason. “A dancer takes inspiration, frequently from the music, and brings it to life through movement. It takes more than just coordination and the ability to do moves. It is another form of artistic expression for me.” She teaches, performs and enjoys dancing socially. You can also find her volunteering for the ELLA Swing Dance Club and the Portland Lindy Exchange planning committee.

She also loves to spend as much of her time outdoors as she possibly can. “I try to take my mountain bike out on the trail at least once a week and my dog, Parker, loves to run along. I grew up mountain biking and worked in bike shops through high school and part of college. I took a break from it for a bit, but now that I'm back in the saddle, I wonder why I ever left.”

Karly enjoys experimenting with photography and is excited to learn more about it. She also loves suspense novels, sudoku, jigsaw puzzles, running, hiking and camping. She has an intimate relationship with color and if you ever want to persuade her to do something, you might think about enticing her with cheesecake.
